Full Moon Practice
Saturday, December 6 — 5:30pm (2,5 hours)
led by Kaz and Julia
In the traditional calendar, the full moon marks a point of completion — a moment to pause, steady the mind, and prepare for the cycle ahead.
For practitioners, it is an occasion to reflect on rhythm and impermanence: to observe how effort, rest, and renewal form part of the same movement.
Taking place on the final full moon of the year, this extended evening practice offers a slower, more deliberate approach to practice — an opportunity to steady the mind, soften effort, and return to the quieter foundations of yoga, and invites reflection on continuity and change: how we direct attention, how we renew discipline, and how we live the teachings beyond the mat.
Through a sequence of gentle, cooling postures and guided self-study, participants will explore ideas drawn from classical scripture — simple principles on observation, non-attachment, and renewal. The evening will close with seated meditation and shared tea — a modest gesture of community and reflection. Together, these elements offer a means to observe the mind, refine attention, and renew discipline for the month ahead.
It is not a ritual or celebration of the moon, but a period of practice — an occasion to apply the principles of yoga to rhythm, change, and continuity, and an opportunity to clarify the mind and renew discipline before the next cycle begins.

Led by Kaz, whose warmth and insight have shaped TYF since its earliest days, and Julia, whose emerging teaching brings clarity and care, this practice offers a softer and more contemplative space within the rhythm of regular teaching — a thoughtful way to close the final cycle of the year.
What to Expect
Guided practice — a steady, cooling sequence accessible to all levels.
Study and reflection — short readings and discussion drawn from the Yoga Sūtras to frame the theme of renewal and restraint.
Brief periods of self-observation through writing as a tool for svādhyāya (self-study).
Seated meditation — closing practice to settle the attention.
Community tea — time to sit together informally at the end of the session.
For Whom
This session is open to all practitioners interested in the broader study of yoga beyond asana.
It will suit those who value slower, deliberate practice and who wish to integrate reflection and philosophical study into their approach.
No prior experience with the Yoga Sūtras is required — only a willingness to observe, reflect, and participate in steady practice.
