YOGA CLASSES

At The Yoga Factory, we practice and teach 8-limb yoga, a path of yoga often referred to as Vinyasa yoga.

The practice is structured and dynamic and has a particular emphasis on breathing both when moving from posture to posture and when remaining still in a posture.

Level I

This class is for those who are still relatively new to yoga and are in the process of establishing their practice. The focus is on familiarity, conscious movement, and synchronicty of movement and breath to establish a sense of withdrawal and concentration.

Articulate instruction and modifications are given for more challenging asanas and individual attention is given to students whenever possible to ensure safe and confident practice.

This class is also a natural progression for students, who have completed our Beginner Yoga Course.

Level II

This class is for those who have been practicing yoga for quite some time and are familiar with the progression of asana and the breath count. The main difference with Level I is, that this class requires more inner work: there is less instruction and more time to go inward.

This class is a natural progression for students, who have been attending Level I classes regularly and feel curious to take on the next step. We encourage students to get to Level II classes as soon as they feel competent in Level I.

Meditation, Breathwork, Gentle Movement

The nervous system is like a command system for the human body; it sets the foundation for how we experience the world physically, mentally, and emotionally. In this class, we will focus on gaining better control over our minds by building a solid foundation for meditation and breathing practice and exploring various techniques to help us regulate our nervous systems.

Each class starts with slow movement, bringing awareness back into the body. We then move on to science-based breathing practices as the most direct way of accessing and regulating our nervous system. Once we are more present in our bodies and inhabit a quieter state of mind, we focus on gradually building our meditation practice and exploring traditional meditation techniques.

A note on regularity of practice:

Here at The Yoga Factory, we try to, foremost, encourage regular yoga practice. Over the years, we have noticed the one thing that hinders students’ ability to develop a yoga practice is attendance. Although we offer many levels of practice: beginners, Level I, Level II, and Advanced, our observation is that if the attendance is inconsistent and irregular, the practice will always be a struggle with no steadiness or joy. To reap the benefits of yoga, we encourage you to try to come as often and as regularly as possible.

With regular practice everything is possible.
